Compare days with similar usage and check the battery information before deciding on a replacement.
One day is not always enough to decide
A trip with navigation, videos or a long gaming session does not have the same effect as a day of messaging. Compare how the phone behaves in similar conditions. Note how long you used it and which tasks seem to speed up the drain.
A gradual drop in battery life and a sudden shutdown are two different symptoms. The first can reflect a change in usage; the second deserves a precise description, especially if the battery percentage suddenly drops.
Check the information on your phone
Battery settings can show which apps use the most power and, depending on the model, information about battery health. Menu names vary: use the manufacturer’s help pages to find the relevant information.
Keep track of any messages shown. They let you describe the situation without installing an unknown tool that promises to ‘repair’ the battery. No statistics screen replaces a diagnosis when a problem persists.
Use suitable charging conditions
Avoid very hot places while charging. On iPhone, optimised charging features help limit the time spent at full charge, so a charging limit does not always mean a fault.
The idea is to observe normal use with compatible accessories, rather than changing settings at random. An improvement after changing your usage can tell you something, without proving that every component is in perfect condition.
Decide once the problem is identified
A replacement can make sense when a faulty battery is confirmed, but it won’t necessarily fix drain caused by an app or by usage. Ask what the diagnosis shows and which repair is being suggested.
Note the exact model, how battery life has changed and any sudden shutdowns. If you notice the phone bulging or getting unusually hot, stop charging it and have the device checked.
